Sixth Lee County death from coronavirus at Lee Health

Lee Health has reported a sixth death from the coronavirus known as COVID-19 this month.

The Florida Department of Health has confirmed that the case was that of a 77-year-old male and Florida resident who died on Friday.

Lee Health currently has 22 patients with COVID-19 isolated at its hospitals. There have been nine COVID-19 patients previously discharged.

As of Saturday, there have been 56 deaths in Florida that have been attributed to the coronavirus.

There are currently 4,033 confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in the state out of 41,769 who have been tested.

Of the 56 deaths statewide, 89% are of people 65 or older. The youngest death was a 39-year-old Lee County man who died Wednesday.

Lee County has the seventh-most cases with 119 reported, ahead of Pinellas County (8th-most) and Collier County (9th-most).

Miami has the most cases among cities with 606, followed by Hollywood with 305 confirmed COVID-19 positives.

Fort Myers has the 11th most confirmed cases among cities, behind Boca Raton and Naples which are 10th and 9th respectively.
