Wave of Vitality opens on the beach

April 10, 2019
By MEGHAN BRADBURY (news@breezenewspapers.com) , Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

A new nutrition club opened on Fort Myers Beach last month to provide residents and visitors alike with healthy alternatives for their weight loss journey.

Tina Terrell, who opened Wave of Vitality in the Sea Grape Plaza, 2801 Estero Blvd., Unit K, said her son-in-law works at a club, independent Herbalife Distributors, in Ohio. When her daughter visited Fort Myers Beach on vacation and saw that there was nothing on the island providing healthy alternatives, she encouraged her mom to open a club here.

Wave of Vitality offers free wellness evaluations, fit clubs and weight loss challenges.

The free fit club is offered at 8 a.m. every Monday, at the club. The cardio drumming class provides a bucket, large exercise ball and drum sticks for the class.

"We do exercise routines with those. Anyone can participate," Terrell said, adding that the movements can be very exaggerated, or low key, depending on the individual's fitness level.

The weight loss challenges are offered every six weeks. Individuals who wish to participate pay $20, with that money going towards the three top winners. At the end of the six weeks three winners are chosen - those who lost the most body weight and mass.

"Once a week they come in for a weigh in," she said. "When we start the challenge we do measurements and a wellness profile with them. We will show them how much protein they need per day and break it down between meals and snacks."

Terrell said participants will never feel like they are hungry as they will be getting the full amount of protein they need to help sustain their appetite.

The club offers 11 different flavor based shakes to choose from and 65 recipes to enhance those based flavors. All the shakes are under 300 calories and provide anywhere from 17 to 24 grams of protein.

The shakes are either $7 for a small, or $8 for a large and include a tea with aloe shot.

The tea with aloe shot helps absorb nutrients and calms the digestive system down, Terrell said.

The club also offers energy drinks, with soy, whey and plant-based protein.

"A lot of people are wanting to have an alternative, but are struggling to find something that tastes good to inspire them to lose weight. They are searching for healthy alternatives and that is what we provide to the community," she said.

Terrell said they are the support system guiding them to a healthy lifestyle. She said they will provide proper nutrition, food choices and meal prepping.

"We have recipes to keep them on track," she said.

A grand opening celebration will be held at the club on May 7 with President Team Member Ryan Baker.

The club is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
