Lois Riess, the Minnesotan charged with the alleged murder of Pamela Hutchinson on Fort Myers Beach and her husband David in Dodge City has been indicted today.

An indictment is a formal charge of a serious crime.

A grand jury upheld the charges of first-degree murder with a firearm, grand theft, and criminal use of personal identification. The murder charge is a mandatory life sentence, according to the press release from the 20th Judicial Circuit state attorney's office.

Riess is charged with the murder of Hutchinson sometime between April 5 and April 9, after she befriended Hutchinson on Fort Myers Beach and allegedly killed her in her condo at Marina Village at Snug Harbour. Riess selected Hutchinson because of their similar appearance. Riess then stole Hutchinson's identity, cash and car, and fled to South Padre Island, where she was later arrested.

Riess had been fleeing another murder she allegedly committed in Minnesota in March. Her husband was found dead and the money from his accounts stolen, along with his car, when she fled to Florida.

It's still an active prosecution case at this time. Riess will be arranged on June 11.

"Endless and tireless work led us to this indictment," said Carmine Marceno, Lee County Undersheriff, said in a press conference today.
