Riding electric bikes in the street

To the Editor:

I am addressing this letter to Mayor Tracey Gore.

Dear Mayor Gore: I just found out you intend to either injure or kill me. I need to ride my electric bike in the street. I did not make the decision not to have bike lanes and make the sidewalks huge. That was the county's doing.

I have a car that can go 140 mph. Yet I only drive it a max of 25 mph on Estero Boulevard. My e-bike can only go 12 mph, and I need to pedal assist like crazy to make it go that fast. I do realize some of the new and more expensive bikes can go 25 mph. Yes, very dangerous on a sidewalk.

So I suggest a 10 mph speed limit on the sidewalks. It will not be hard to tell when someone is zipping along at a high speed.

I would love to ride a regular bike, however I had hip surgery and sometimes I just cannot do it. Don't tell me to walk because that hurts more.

I'd like to see my grandkids grow up. Please help me do that.
