Cincinnati Firemen performances heat up the beach

February 28, 2018
By ANITA FORCE MARSHALL (news@breezenewspapers.com) , Fort Myers Beach Bulletin, Fort Myers Beach Observer

They're back . . .

"The Cincinnati Firemen return to the Lani Kai, Fort Myers Beach, for their annual pilgrimage down to Spring Break Central," said Melissa Schneider, marketing director of the Lani Kai Island Resort. "For generations, the firemen have come down for spring break on the island, and teaming up with the Lani Kai in 2010 only fueled their daily variety shows to be even bigger, better and wilder, with more costume changes than ever and raising funds for local charitable, non-profit organizations."

Don't miss a single day. The Cincy firemen and EMTs are scheduled to perform a 90-minute variety show every day around 1:30 p.m., March 11-22 (no shows on March 15 or 19), featuring some hilariously sexy singing, dancing and choreographed moves that even includes audience participation.

"Our annual spring break event has received an overwhelming response from beach-goers of all ages and with the firemen fundraising through donations and commemorative merchandise sold during their shows, it just brings this act to a whole new level," Schneider said. "This year, as in years past, the Cincy firemen are raising funds for our local ARABA Shriners organization, a non-profit group dedicated to aiding ailing children by providing transportation to and from their hospital treatments, and even helping with their medical bills."

Sponsors of the Cincinnati Firemen shows include the Lani Kai, Bud Light and Corona Especial.

The Lani Kai Island Resort is at 1400 Estero Blvd. and is the only place where you can catch these visiting hot boys and their daily shows for charity. The shows are geared towards all-ages and newcomers are always surprised at the talent and showmanship of these first responders. They are known to really shake it. All that gyrating begins with intense rehearsals for months before their trip to Fort Myers Beach, by lead choreographer, co-founder of the group and fellow fireman Jeff Yount. Other co-founders include Angelo "Scar" Scarlato and Joe "Duke" Diebold.

"Personally, my favorite skit of the show is the Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' skit," Schneider said. "But overall, my favorite part is just watching all the happiness the firemen bring to the local beach crowd during their shows. It's so fun watching how excited everyone is, catching this benefit variety show right here in the middle of paradise, it's pretty surreal!"

Fans of the show can look forward to some fan-favorite, ever-popular songs, as well as a couple of brand-spankin'-new routines. Every show is a surprise, because you never know what - or who - you'll see.

There is never a charge to attend and specialty, limited-edition Cincinnati Firemen merchandise will be available for purchase during the shows, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the ARABA Shriners.

"So far, in the seven years the firemen have performed at our resort, they have raised over $87,000 for local non-profit charity organizations," Schneider said. "We are looking forward to adding much more to that grand total this year."

So don't be shy, the Cincy firemen will be sure to set your heart on fire. Their fans transcend age, gender, and all levels of the ability to shake, rattle, and roll.

"Anyone with a pulse will enjoy the show," Schneider said. "We have people of all ages attend them - from younger families with children to the young-at-heart and everyone in between. Fort Myers Beach and the Lani Kai Island Resort is such a great place for holding these daily Cincy Firemen Spring Break shows because we truly are a melting pot and gathering place of so many different types of people from so many different age ranges and walks of life. And we love knowing that we attract such a wide range of visitors every year. We love each and every one of them!"
