Mastersingers celebrate 15 years with dual retrospective concerts April 3

The Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers will mark its 15-year anniversary with two comprehensive Retrospective Concerts, Sunday, April 3 featuring highlights from past seasons with full orchestra. Join everyone at 2 p.m. at the Faith Presbyterian Church, Cape Coral, or at 7 p.m. at the Faith United Methodist Church, Fort Myers.

The program opens with the Kyrie from Mozart's "Requiem," which was the first work ever performed by the Mastersingers. Enjoy excerpts from the Brahms' "German Requiem," the opening of Orff's "Carmina Burana," selections from Schubert's Mass in G, a movement from John Rutter's "Gloria", patriotic selections including the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and Nancy Hill Cobb's "Cantate Domino" from Threnody.

Nancy Hill Cobb will be a guest conductor, former artistic director of the Mastersingers. The group extends a special invitation to anyone who has sung with them in the past to attend and join in singing the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Handel's "Messiah." Tickets are available online at

About the local musical group

The Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers is a select ensemble of singers who enjoy a reputation of musical excellence, dedicated to the performance of significant choral works. Since forming in 2001, the Mastersingers group has grown from a small chorus to an 80-plus voice ensemble of men and women dedicated to excellence in music. Each season the ensemble presents five to seven concerts in various venues in Southwest Florida. Its soloists are nationally recognized professionals either guests of the Mastersingers, or professionals within the chorus. The ensemble is under the direction of Artistic Director Jeff Faux.
